December 2, 2021, the International Tunneling Association (ITA) announced the winners of the 2021 (7th) “ITA Tunneling Awards”. The “BEYOND ENGINEERING Award” was successfully awarded to the Shenzhen Metro Large-Scale Shield Tunneling Soil Low-Carbon Resource Utilization project by Shenzhen Metro Group.
Currently, dealing with the soil generated from shield tunneling is a difficult problem. If it is directly transported outside, not only is the cost high, but it will also be scattered on the road, causing dust and serious pollution. At the same time, a large amount of reusable sand, gravel, clay, foam, and other materials in the soil will be wasted if they are treated as waste.
Our technical team and China Railway Workwear team cooperated to propose a solution with improved equipment and construction processes. After multiple scientific research breakthroughs, the technical team finally developed a shield tunneling soil environmental protection treatment system. The system separates and dehydrates the soil, achieving the reuse of inorganic raw materials and water resources, turning waste into treasure, and creating value out of nothing.
